dead wabbit society

Fri Nov 17, 2006, 2:27 PM
i logged on by accident last week and deviantart said they had a week of trial membership to tempt me to give them money. now when that trial-membership is over I find it safe enough to log on again.

the first thing I see in my message centre was "Mr Universe" Zort's journal with a link to the ultimate guide to making BW photos. I know that many of you struggle with that, so I'll link you to it as well: [link] I'll add my own two pennies to it and suggest that you all look at your digital camera and their bw-modes. Regardless of what cranky assholes say, these give better results than hours in photoshop and old-fashioned bw-film.

:bulletred: we finally got back from our travels and since this is a journal I would like to thank Jay for showing us the secrets of dutch weissbier, and to Pedro and his lovely girlfriend for showing us the wonders of green wine. we had a great time. I hope to post more images from the city by Amstel, from Kerry, from Lagos, the hills of Lisboa and Madrid in my blog soon enough. You know how to find the blog.

:bulletred: I also wish to bring a few words to the american girl in Lagos who refused to let me shoot dolphins from the "dolphin-trip" boat. I am sorry that I pushed you into the water, but you were blocking the way when I wanted to harpoon that little swimming bugger. You have to admit that the meat was delicious though. (a strong red wine is excellent with dolphin meat)

:bulletred: In other news, my painting is going the right way. After much inspiration from Reina Sofia in Madrid (fabulous museum, maybe on of the best five in the world) I spend most of my spare time with oil smears, terpentine and canvas. My poor gf feels she is a painting widow now.

:bulletred: In other news, today/saturday 18th is my girlfriend Fay's ( =crazy1ady ) birthday. Wish her the best :w00t:

See you around sissies!

Away From Keyboard

Off we go, seeing Europe's western coast. First Amsterdam though, but that is work. Then we go to the west coast of Ireland and will be joined by Serena ( *antarie ). We will then do a triple visit at the guinness brewery before we go to Portugal's southwestern tip. Then off for Lisboa and then Madrid and then back to rain, rain and rainy Bergen.

I will bring a camera or two, maybe I will get a shot or two on my trip. I am lucky in that I travel with two streetshooters. Will as usual keep my blog updated when I get the chance. I really enjoy the boblycat gang of streetshooters and they produce some very good and inspirational stuff. I look forward to seeing more!

Best of luck to the smurfs in Lebanon and peace, love and lego forever!

As you may have noticed, I don't really use dA much anymore. There are several reasons for that, some of which has been iterated in the journals of other streetshooters you might know. Maybe of most importance though is that I want to work a bit longer term with series, and dA doesn't provide the platform necessary for that currently. It has been promised that series would come for almost two years now, and with the release of this v5 what we got was a slower site, and new bugs instead of the new features that the community had asked for. :|

Of course, series may not be my thing, but I will work on it, fail frequently, and then work some more on it. I will probably also work more with bw as it is the medium I prefer. But I am also fascinated by shapes and colours, as opposed to literalism. Yeah, I like Monet. :D

However, I will post shots here now and again, but not often. I will still be reachable though. ;)

And yeah, like the other streetshooters, I will use my blog as my little medium for the ordinary and extraordinary life. The address is http://journal.boblycat.org/stig and it can easily be syndicated so you can get updates in your firefox (with sage: [link] ) whenever someone's blog has been updated. this also works with other people's blogs. And best of all, it isn't regulated by dA's secret banstick police that will ban you for critiquing pedophile "art" and misogynist "art". :stab:

Oh and yes.. our vacation plans (me, =crazy1ady, ~knuta and *antarie ) this year is amsterdam (van gogh museum!), ireland (guinness), south portugal (atlantic ocean), lisboa and madrid, so if you live in that neighbourhood, give us a call. :w00t:

Happy Birthday to me

Because it's my 21st birthday today and I'm not a teenager anymore I have decided to allow everyone to ask three questions that I will answer. :w00t:

Curry-Wurst and all the raspberries

We went to Berlin, it was :sun: and HOT. We met my old friend Espen who started the new Trolltech office in Berlin, and we met René ( =panopticum ) who is a great guy. Should have stayed longer for more interesting conversations. I shot some here and there, but I haven't developed any of the films yet. Stocked up on my beloved fuji films while I was there, fotoimpex was a very nice store. Norway is dry for fuji bw films, it seems that the shops here don't get why the films are good.

Also pondering on how to do things in the future, I am a bit disillusioned by single photos, and other things, and have been for so long. Will let you know where my experiments and feet lead me.

I see some of the photographers I like are leaving for new pastures. It's perfectly understandable.
